Othinslunda Heritage and Brush Museum

Sweden’s only brush museum can be found in Onslunda. Feel free to try out this great craft yourself.

Along the street Stationsvägen in the middle of the town Onslunda, a beautiful farmhouse with a dwelling house from the end of the 19th century. Today, it houses the local heritage museum.

The most famous part of the museum is the brush-factory. Here you can gain insight into how brushes were manufactured by hand, and later using machines. Onslunda is an old brushmaker town and has previously had two large factories. Today, only a limited machine production remains in the house next to the museum. For a small fee, you can try making your own brush at the Brush Museum.

But if you visit the Local Heritage Museum, you will get even more for your money. The beautiful residential house contains part of the museum collection in the form of furniture and household utensils. All furnished according to the period.

Alma Trapp’s store, which once existed in Onslunda, has now been authentically reconstructed and furnished at the museum. There are also handmade brushes and sweets for sale.

In the room next to the store, you will find a small classroom with desks for the pupils and the teacher and wonderful educational posters hung on the walls.

There is also a wagon depot that belongs to the museum. Here a hearse can be found that has been in use in Skåne Tranås since the early 40s. Most of the wagons in the depot were drawn by horses.

Count on a long visit to the local heritage museum, since there are plenty of interesting things to see and maybe even do, as we recommend that you at least try making your own brush. There is also plenty of fun for older children.
